The module hipecs-GW30 is a very compact and powerful CANopen / RS232 gateway. This module gives the possibility to integrate devices with RS232 interface into CANopen networks very easily. The gateway uses a simple serial data stream and directly converts this into the CANopen protocol. For the serial interface based device, the protocol is completely transparent, there is no special gateway protocol overhead needed. This feature guarantees, that already existing hardware may be connected to CAN networks as well as new components. The serial communication parameters may be set from CAN bus side. The gateway supports baud rates up to 460,800 baud. The free programmable prescaler supports unusual baud rates as well as the standards.

Additionally 2 digital inputs and 1 digital output for 24V are implemented. These may be used for handshake or general purposes. The RS232 interface and the I/Os are isolated from CPU and CAN bus line.
